Editing or Moving Pins

Sometimes pins are dropped in the wrong spot or the information on it is a bit off, we have you covered!

Editing and moving pins is as easy is it was to drop it in the first place. You can do this from mobile or the web admin, the steps are the exact same!

First you have to click on the pin you want to edit on the Maps Tab:

Tap the bottom of the screen where the pin display is, this will take you back to the pin page:

Pin Screen with boxes

1. Editing Pin Drop: Change the Location or category of the pin

2. Adding A Worklog: Add new information to the pin

3. Editing An Existing Worklog: Change the information on the pin note

Editing Pin Drop:

After clicking the "Edit Pin Drop" button in the image above, you will see several options. These changes will be reflected on the basic pin, this is to change existing information due to an error, not a place to add new information. Note, if the pin has already been reported on then it cannot be changed. Options in the edit screen can be seen below:

  • Tap to update location. Changing the pin location is sometimes needed if the GPS signal was not great or you placed it in the wrong spot. Tapping the map will allow you to move the pin to where you would like it to be, and then save after.
    • Trying to increase your GPS accuracy? You can connect to a GNSS receiver to pull a better signal, see a guide here
  • Tags: You can change the tag added to the pin here
  • Photos: you can add more, or delete photos from the original pin.
    • To delete photos, select the photo you want to delete and tap the trash icon on the screen
  • Notes: Editing this note will change the original note on the pin
  • Private: This changes the pin to private
  • Category: Here you can change the pin to a different category if needed

After saving, you will see these changes reflected on the pin!

Adding A Worklog

On a follow up visit, the worklog become the primary method of updating the pin. Think of this as a second note being added to an issue you saw on the last visit. After tapping "Add Worklog" by the #2 on the above photo, you will be presented with this screen:

There are a few options on this screen, all previous pin information will remain for you to look back on after the worklog as well:

Status: Change the status to show that a change to your original pin has been made.

Private: Changes the pin to private, only certain members would be able to see it

Photos: Add or take a new photo to attach to a note or status change.

Notes: This note accompanies the latest change you are documenting

Editing An Existing Worklog

There might be situations where you do not need to edit the pin itself, but just that first note or images attached. the edit button by the #3 is the place to do this. After tapping that button, you will see the following screen:

This is a place where you can add or delete photos from the original note, or worklog you are editing. You can also make changes to the existing comment. Typically, this would be to fix a typo from while you were out on site or add additional information. After updating the note you will see  it reflected on the pin.
